Filed under: giveaways — cleeo @ 9:01 am

We’re on vacation (and will be for another week or so), but we had to share the results of our Soul Mates photo shoot giveaway. Our winner was kind enough to let us post the photos of her tot taken by the fabulous Melissa Tomeoni, so we had to follow-up. Melissa has an amazing photographic eye and it really shows in these pics. We love that we were able to partner up with her for this giveaway and now Melissa is offering another great promo to our readers, fans and followers. She’s been kind enough to offer a 15% discount on any photo session fee. We’re planning to take advantage of this great opportunity and we hope you will, too. Just let Melissa know cleeo & bea sent you. We’ll be back soon with more great reviews and giveaways starting in July, just taking some much needed family time and travel. Check out more photos of cleeo & bea’s photo shoot giveaway winner on our facebook page.

Papa Loves St. Johns 06/14/2010

Filed under: mamas & papas, wear & diaper — cleeo @ 9:04 am

If you don’t live in Portland, you may not see the appeal of a t-shirt emblazoned with a steel suspension bridge, but if you do live here, you’ll know exactly why a Portland papa may love it. The St. Johns bridge, in lovely St. Johns, Oregon, is iconic. Built over a two year period from 1929-31, this gothic looking bridge was (at the time) the longest suspension bridge built west of Detroit. It’s huge and pretty amazing to both drive across and stand under. We recently bought this tee for a friend and he won’t take it off. Another reason why we thought dear old dad may think it’s pretty nifty. Printed from an original illustration by Colosso on an American Apparel t-shirt. Hand screen printed on order. Lots of colors to choose from. Just a note, AA tees are a bit snug. $23.00, here.

Papa Loves Richie & Margo

tenenbaum

Oh, how we love the Tenenbaums, actually any film directed by Wes Anderson, but the Tenenbaums kind of took the cake. We saw this film long ago with the men who our kiddos now call papa, and we were obsessed with this wacky family for awhile. We love these prints by Etsy artist Retro Whale of the Tenenbaums. They would make the perfect Father’s Day gift for any Dad who holds a soft spot in his heart for Gene Hackman and Bill Murray. Set of 4 hand drawn and then digitally colored art Prints. Measure 5″x 5” each with a border for framing. Printed on Epson archival matte fine art paper with pigment inks. Prints are signed and shipped in a bend proof mailer. $48, here.

Papa Loves To Cuddle

daddycuddles600

We can’t think of a sweeter gift for papa. “Daddy Cuddles” authored by Anne Gutman and illustrated by Gorg Halle is one book that our tots love to read with their dads over and over again. We love the cute illustrations, are particularly smitten with the daddy monkies and our kiddos have learned the names of baby animals from this book, too. A great way to express love between babes and their papas, a great book to give any newbie papa, or really any papa for that matter. Board book, perfect for toddlers and younger. $5.95, here.

Papa Loves To Stink Pretty

Filed under: mamas & papas, summer picks — cleeo @ 9:01 am

We’re not terribly attracted to cologne, but a fresh smelling papa is pretty great. We love Burt’s Bees products for men and so do the papas we know. BB’s soaps are not too manly, natural, but still do the job of lathering and cleaning, and we find ourselves using them when we have them in the house. In particular their bar soap. It smells so good. Contains vegetable soap base, kaolin, citrus aurantium bergamia (bergamot) fruit oil, citrus medica limonum (lemon) peel oil, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel oil, pogostemon cablin (patchouli) oil, citrus reticulata (tangerine/petitgrain) leaf oil, abies sibirica (fir needle) oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil. No junk, hooray. Perfect small gift for papa. 4 oz. bar, $4.00, here.

Papa Loves Camping

Filed under: go for a walk or a ride, mamas & papas, summer picks — cleeo @ 9:00 am

The cleeo & bea papas love a good guide book and ones that feature camping and hiking are at the top of their lists. One of the cleeo & bea families are about to embark on a road trip to California and we’ve been perusing this book for the last month, but you could insert your own title, based on where you live or  where you want to go. We really like the Moon travel guides because they’re pretty thorough, down to amenities and ratings, tent camping and other tips about camping amidst bear. This guide in particular covers 1,400 camping spots, family destinations (thank you) and scenic ratings. Love that.  Great for any adventuring papa at the beginning of the summer. $23.95, here.

Goodnight, Foxy 06/07/2010

foxy

We love plush of all kinds and our kiddos can’t get enough of their felted forest friends either. They gather all of them together for meetings and dinners, just so they can get to know one another. We love this sleepy little fox by Sleepy King. She’s (we’ve decide she’s a gal) sweet, cuddly and looks slightly vintage to us. Each fox is made to order, so may take a few weeks to get to you, but we say even better because it’s a one-of-a-kind handmade woodland friend that kiddos can keep throughout  their kidhood. Foxy the sleepy red forest fox measures roughly 10″tall. Not sure what the fill is, so we can’t call it an eco-friend, but darn cute. $24.00, here.

Unexpected Friends

Maybe we watched “The Horse Whisperer” one too many times when we were younger, but we have a real soft spot for horses and our tots seem to love them, too. We live in the city and rarely get the chance to see them, so we have to make up for it in other ways. This print, by Esty artist Amanda Kindregan, struck us when we saw it. The colors are beautiful and the image of a horse and little girl sharing an apple are so sweet, that we have to find a way to incorporate into one of our kiddos rooms. And of course, since this week we’re featuring some of our fave Etsy finds, we had to include it. Digital print of original painting on archival velvet paper. Sorry, no measurements listed, most likely 5″x 7″, may need to e-mail artist for more info. $20.00, here.

Fathers Day is only a couple of weeks away and though we’ll be featuring more dad goods next week, we couldn’t resist this rad dad heart tattoo t-shirt, by Wren Willow, for our papa loving tots. It’s the perfect way for any wee one to show appreciation for dear old dad without actually getting the tattoo. Tees are hand sketched, dyed and hand screened on Alternative Apparel T-Shirt using eco-friendly, water based inks and no harsh chemicals. Sizes limited to 12-18m in this style, but there’s a cute onesie with the same design. $20.00, here.

It’s In The (Bean) Bag

Filed under: art & wonder fridays, in my room, totally toddler — cleeo @ 9:01 am

moolka

What is it about bean bags? We remember loving them when we were kiddos. Their unstructured seating at its best and our tots think they’re fun to flop on, sit in and hide under. Of course, the originals are’nt the most eco-friendly of choices, but we’ve seen some newer versions that don’t have the funky poly fill beads. We’ve never been able to find the right covers for them, so have really steered away, until now. We recently found these bean bag covers where else, but on Etsy. These covers made by Melbourne based company and Esty storekeeper Moolka, are the perfect solution for keeping giving the beanbag a little structure with a super cute cover. The sides of the cover are made from four triangular shapes giving the bean bag neat and tidy shape.  This size beanbag cover would suit from small children up to kids in their pre-teens. Measures 25″ x 34″. A few great styles to choose from. $56.00, here.

We love Etsy for many reasons, one of which is that we can find loads of lettepress prints and cards. We heart all things letterpress and if we had spare time we’d probably take on this old school style of printing as a hobby. We’ve been pining for this numbers letterpress print, designed by Stephanie Lynne Ford for {pop} by Sycamore Street Press, for our tot’s room for awhile. The colors are gorgeous and the clean, modern numbers are perfect. Need we say more? Why not? Letterpress printed on 100% cotton (tree free) paper with soy based inks in tangerine orange and aqua blue. Print measures 11″ x 14″. $30.00, here.

polaroid applique

It’s giveaway time again and we’re thrilled to be partnering up with Filmmonsters of New York to giveaway one of their sweet, limited quantity, appliqued polaroid land camera tees. We love these t-shirts for their ode to old school cameras and super soft feel. Plus, it’s so fun to see little people wearing analog cameras on their shirts. Love. Here’s how they’re made, the camera image is screen printed onto fabric, then the patch is sewn onto an American Apparel Long Sleeve stylish and comfy shirt. And voilà, super cute kids and adult tees. And don’t forget the handbags, they’re lovely. This giveaway is open to all e-mail subscribers, facebook fans and twitter followers. Deadline is June 15th, so if you’re not on our list, hurry.

Ultimate Car Caddy 06/01/2010

Filed under: go for a walk or a ride, mamas & papas — cleeo @ 9:04 am
CarCaddy

We’ve been drooling over this car organizer by Sewn Natural for a while now. It’s just the kind of caddy we’ve been looking for with a ton of pockets to house all kinds of necessities. And the fabric is to die for. Constructed from three layers of fabric (back yellow cotton, inner cotton batting and outer designer fabric, Ugly Duckling Galosh by Lizzy House). And each of the carefully designed, different sized pockets is lined with velcro closures and accordian pleats. The lower strap of the organizer will fit around car seat measuring (through the crease between seat and seat back) 49″-51″. And strap is adjustable by 4″ of velcro on each end of the strap. Entire caddy measures 25″x 14″. Gorgeous and durable, plus machine washable. Love. Custom orders, too. Price is right for quality and craftsmanship. $75.00, here.

High Ridin’ Hero

Filed under: go for a walk or a ride, read & listen — cleeo @ 9:03 am
handsome willie

We just can’t imagine a road trip with out listening to Willie Nelson. We loved him on car trips when we were growing up and are so glad we get to share these songs and make new memories with our own little families. Any greatest hits might due, but we love this version, Willie Nelson’s Greatest Hits (And Some That Will Be) for its cover alone. Willie looks so darn cute with his groovy braids, but the creme de la creme is the inside fold out. The album  (or CD) opens up to a giant picture of Willie wearing a sporty purple tank top, polyester pants and new balance tennies amidst a western landscape, so freaking cute!  This album has all the road trippin’ oldies but goodies like “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys”, “On The Road Again” and “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys”. Some of the lyrics may need editing, but for the most part, pretty safe. A total must that kids of all ages can appreciate. Used and new from $1.49, here.

The Standby

bronners

If there’s one staple in our road trip toiletry bag, it’s Dr. Bronners castile liquid soap. We’ve been taking it on vacations and summer trips for as long as we can remember, especially when going camping because this “all one” soap can be used for everything, including washing dishes or cleaning small hands after meals or playing in the dirt. Bronners soaps are natural, made with no junk or parabens, from certified organic and fair-trade coconut, olive, jojoba and hemp oils combined with essential oils to create a people safe soap that lathers up and smells great. Leaves no funky residue and we always love it on the road because it makes us feel fresh and clean. There are several flavors, but we love the baby mild castile, lavender and almond for our tots. The peppermint is great, but can be a little intense (we’ve found) for the wee ones. Travel size is great for the car or from larger bottle into a small squirt bottle, soap can be diluted a bit. Soaps are packaged in 100% post-consumer recycled bottles, thank you. Travel size is 2 oz., $2.49, here.
