In The Garden, On The Beach 07/12/2010

We’ve been going back and forth between this one, the Goddess Garden Kid’s Natural Sunscreen, and California Baby’s Citronella Sunscreen for our tots. The GG has a thinner consistency than both the Badger and California Baby sunscreens, not so sticky, but we wish it came in a spray because it would be so much easier to put on our wiggly tots. Goddess Garden Sunscreen does absorb more quickly than the others we’ve tried and mama feels like she can rub it in enough so we don’t look like clowns. Plus, it has a great rating of a 2 on the skin deep website. We used this sunscreen all day at the beach with two applications and our babes came away burn free, except in areas where mama missed. Made from pure minerals, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. SPF 30 broad-spectrum UVA/UVB coverage. Contains organic aloe vera juice, organic soy oil, organic lavender essential oil and a few other ingredients like lecithin and xanthum gum. Has an odor reminiscent of stinky little socks, but really does the trick. 3 oz. $12.97, here.

I’ve been trying several of the suncreens with high ratings on the EWG website, but many have been too thick for my 5 and 8 year olds. They hate waiting to have everything rubbed in. They also didn’t like the smell of the unscented Badger. Tried Goddess Garden and liked the way it rubbed in easier and liked the Lavender smell. We’ve also been trying TruKid, which is sold online out of Oakland and like that one too. Has a nice citrus smell.
